Grisha Bruskin (born Oct. 21, 1945, Moscow, USSR) is a Russian-born American artist. He currently lives in New York City.
Much of his art is deeply entwined in Jewish mythology and folklore. He became a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR in 1969, and was part of the underground non-conformist movement. He studied Hebrew and Kabbalah with no formal education and used it as part of and inspiration for the majority of his pieces. Bruskin moved to America in 1988, and that same year brought him global fame when one of his works sold for an extremely high price at an auction in Moscow. His artwork also blends a sense of Communist folklore with his style which appears almost ancient and fantastic.
