For its first participation at the Nocturne Rive Droite and to illustrate the 2014 theme of it’s 18th edition, Gallery Shchukin recently installed in Paris, proudly presents, from June 4th till July 31st, 2014, an exhibition dedicated to the writer / painter Shan Sa. On the occasion of the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between France and China, Shan Sa delivers the quintessential link of a successful merger between the West and the East. With an artistic proposal uniting about fifteen paintings, with celestial or telluric colors and suggestive abstraction, she invites the public to share her philosophical meditations on life and death.
Born in Beijing, Shan Sa is a bestselling author, recognized internationally, published by Grasset and Albin Michel. She lives and works in Paris where she leads a joint career as a painter, connects a Chinese pictorial tradition and deep contemporary Western sensibility. "Painting and writing are part of the same universe, they are two different expressions of the same source and are complementary," she said.
